The "Life-Cycle"...
Ya get it? -- the "Life-cycle"? huh? huh? - Oh well, if you don't... let me explain it a little. Over here in 'Tom's-World', I believe that folks should do (within reason), what they want to do. Not too long ago, I put together a "bucket-list" of sorts, and at the top of that list is to ride around the perimeter of America on a motorcycle; -- a circumnavigation of these here U-nited States, doncha know.
Can't do that without a motorsickle, right? - I looked at a lot of different bikes before making my choice; all the way from Harleys to Vespa Scooters. After looking at all the specs 'n things... my final-final choice was a BMW F650 GS. Now I know all you people don't know what the heck that is... let's just say this: it's a 2009, 80 horsepower, 6-speed, hiway/trail, motorcycle with the dual name of "LeeRoy", and "The Life-Cycle", (which I'm having painted on the side.)
I located this bad boy down in Chandler, Arizona... It belonged to a priest and a nun, who only drove it on Sundays; (just joking.) Actually, I got it from a very nice BMW dealership in Chandler.
So, back in December, my wife and I drove down there to get it (uh... 350 miles.) Upon seeing the bike, it seemed PERFECT, and it was gently gnawing on a pile of hay in the corral, looking like it already belonged to me. I paid the nice people at the dealership, told 'em I'd pick it up the next morning, and my wife and I went and had din-din.
The next morning, I practiced (in a parking lot close by) riding it for an hour or so. Think of it as shaky "touch-and-go" landings, as if you're a student pilot. I got the hang of it pretty quickly and at about 10:30 in the morning, off I rode. The first 15 miles or so was across city traffic in Phoenix. Then, onto the Interstates and on to 'Vegas. The weather started turning cold in the afternoon, so we spent the night in Kingman, AZ. and moseyed on into Las Vegas the next day.
Was it shakey? - hell no.... was it a little scary? - (not that either... it was like sitting in a motorized rocking chair... relaxed and checking out the scenary.) - We got back around 1:30 in the afternoon and took some pitchers... (just below) - ALTOGETHER a MUCH better bike than my former one (shudder.)
Here are some pics...
