"Motorcycle-Friends" (maybe Freaks?) - Remember, it can be also be a positive term.

Now, the thing is... you meet some interesting folks on a motorsickle... (Yeah, yeah, I know how to spell it) - Ever since I got my bike earlier this year, I've taken notice of the motorcycle people out there.  So, (yada, yada, yada...) I decided to write about the interesting bike-folks I've met.   I hope you like this new feature. I promise I'll keep it interesting.

Here's the first one, his name is Nick...

                                                        Picture
Actually, his name is William L. "Nick" Palmer. I met Nick when my wife and I went on vaction this summer. It was the most random thing in the world; 3600 miles for us... you get gas haphazardly on a long trip like that. I pulled into an out-of-the-way gas station way up in bum-buck Montana some where, and lo and behold, Nick was standing beside a (ahem...) 'well-used' BMW Touring bike. He looked "well-worn" himself, AND... a bit "traveled." So, I decided to mosey over and see what his story was. I actually figured he had probably toured around the upper Northwest or something, and I wanted to hear about it.

Boy... was I wrong. MISTER Nick Palmer has ridden his bike MORE than 300,000 miles! Are you getting that?? - That's 300,000 miles on a motorcycle. I'll bet you're thinking he's toured around in America, right?? -- Wrong. - Nick's toured through Russia, New Zealand, Australia, Europe; he's even been to the furtherest point south, in South America, that you can get to. Did I mention NORTH of the Arctic Circle?? - Oh yeah, he's ALSO an Army Ranger (everybody give him a hand-salute here), AND... he still looks like he can kick your ass... (just saying...) - One more little tidbit about Mr. William L. 'Nick' Palmer... he's 75 years old! - Bought his first motorsickle at 60; turned out, he "kinda like it." (I'm tempted to say, "No shit", but I don't like to be vulgar.)

Do me a favor, and send him an email, and give him some encouragement... Here's his email address:  nickpalmer2@yahoo.com

Here's some of his pics... (more will be coming)

Here's his travel itenerary... (This is actually hard to believe.)

Look where he's been... (Lawdy, lawdy... Miss Claudy)
