"TomServations..."
From time to time I write a little commentary. My interest is not limited to politics - I poke around in international affairs, state issues, and the local area too. I invite you to read my comments. - You don't have to agree with it; you can disagree, even vilify if you want - Click on the corresponding "blog", and give me your best shot, (or applause.) Better yet, you can post your own comments... If you've got something direct to say, put it in an email and send it to me (TomAdair@NewVista.biz) - I'll put it up here under your "by-line".
Above all, don't be shy, all views are welcomed by me, and I encourage my viewers to add their comment.

Welp, the thing is... I'm 66 today, and I'm not sure how I feel about it...
On the one hand, I'm a very young 66, on the other, I'm a very old 16, and I oscillate between the two. Age drives me crazy, I teach cycle and "Boot-camp" classes at my local "Y"; and I swear that the people who come to my classes think: "Oh great, Col. Sanders is teaching again today." So when I see that 'look' on their face, I turn in up a notch. -- Tomorrow, I'm going to mosey over to the Social Security office and tell them they owe me some money. And THAT bothers me too!! - Am I old enough to get 'Social Security'? I thought only 'old' people got that. I dunno, I'm confused; on the one hand I've got it coming to me, and on the other, it's some how or other and "OLD-badge." Think I'll give mine to runaway teenage girls.
I had a cousin who passed away recently and a friend asked me what I thought about it. I said, "Well, he's pushing up daisies, and I'm doing pushups; I think the latter's better." --"Here's to you, Death! (obscene gesture), if you want me, come and get me, I'm over at the 'Y' doing pushups, and I've got an 'attitude.' -- (Probably shouldn't taunt death, should I...)

Christmas is almost here... (12-13-10)
Can you belive it? - Fundamentally, it's only two weeks till Christmas. Wasn't it about a month or so ago that I did Ragbrai? - Well, the point is... the great demarkation in American Culture is about to occur again. I like Christmas alright, I guess... (sounds like it, huh?) The thing that bugs me the most about it is... the inanity of it.
I know, I know... I just don't have the "Christmas Spirit" do I? - Well, I don't; and haven't had since about 1984 or so. I'd actually like to revamp it... kinda turn it into "WTFmasday". It's ok for kids, I guess... but even there... Welp, let me just ask you this: "Have you ever seen kids tear into packages on Christmas Day?" They're like wolves... -- no worse... they're like feral dogs; it's a little scary; I always feel more comfortable when I can see the outline of my favorite knife in my pocket. At least then, I have a fighting chance. AND... THE APPRECIATION... Geez!! -- "Mom, I TOLD you I didn't want this useless thing!! -- I wanted the OTHER useless thing."
Anyway, like so many 'Mericans, I love Christmas and love it even more when it's gone.
Your thoughts??
